Johnston-Vermette involvement in the nuclear field is important. Indeed, we started to provide engineering services to the Gentilly-2 nuclear power plant as early as 1995. At that time, the experience of the firm in instrumentation and controls with metallurgical and chemical industries provided sought and relevant expertise in the field of nuclear energy. Gradually, our contributions are extended to the disciplines: electrical, method, and mechanical.
From 2000 to 2005, our engineers and technicians were involved in environmental qualification projects, to demonstrate the ability of equipment and their components to perform their functions of security in a hostile nuclear environment. From 2006 to 2009, we participated in the refurbishing project of Point Lepreau nuclear power plant, in Saint John, New Brunswick. Since 2009, Johnston-Vermette is involved in several phases of the refurbishing project of G2 nuclear power plant.
The nuclear team now consists of several engineers, technologists and technicians who respond professionally to the expectations of clients by proposing appropriate technological solutions. Included in our team are specialized subcontractors and partners who hold many years of experience in nuclear power.
Qualified CSA N286, Johnston-Vermette carries out mandates primarily in its offices in Trois-Rivières and Bécancour.
Johnston-Vermette’s experience in the nuclear industry has been acquired at Gentilly 2, and at Point Lepreau, which are CANDU generating stations with capacities of 675 and 680 MW respectively.
